That's Not What They Are Selling...

Dr Pepper.

I've blogged about it before.

Here and here.

The other night I was watching The Amazing Race with the minions when a Dr Pepper ad came on that really got their attention.

It was the latest Dr Pepper ad featuring...

Um...

I believe this gentleman's name is Pitbull.

Here is the link to it.

In case you didn't watch it or haven't seen it here is what happens:

The ad shows an attractive guy riding around with his Dr Pepper and...um...lady friends. As he rides he  is singing a really catchy song with a chorus that says "Let's have a real good time."

The video is all fancy cars and bumping music and flashy clothes and of course Dr Pepper.

I tried to be all 'good' Mom and engage with the kids about the commercial since they were so obviously enthralled by it.

The eight year old said: "That guy is awesome."

The six year old was just as impressed.

It's not the first time that music has driven them into a practically catatonic state.

I asked them: "What do you think they are trying to sell on this commercial?"

They thought about it for a few seconds and then the six year old gave his completely serious answer:

"That it's fun to hang out with bald people?"

*Crickets Chirping*

Um...not exactly.

I mean...

How do you watch that commercial and surmise that hanging out with bald people is what they are trying to sell?

I mean, I'm all for bald people.

I've blogged before about my friend Ashley.

He's cool.

And I've blogged about Pastor Eric.

He's cool too.

So bald is good.

But I'm just not sure that's what Dr Pepper was selling.
