Since we moved across town a few weeks ago I've been busy choosing all my new haunts. The kids were psyched to learn there was a Baskin Robbins just a few miles away. I was psyched to learn there was a Mellow Mushroom a few hundred feet away.
As for other new places my cousin Rusty tipped me off to the greatness that is Miss Icey's Flower Patch a few days ago.
He also ratted me out to my Mom when I tried to date a inappropriate boy when I was fourteen but that's another story.
Now to get to Miss Icey's Flower Patch from Huntsville you should definitely take Highway 72 West all the way to Mooresville Road and then turn at Nick Davis.
I mean, you should do that if you want to be really boring.
The best way to go is just to pick a smaller road and head in that general direction.
I'm glad that's what we did because look what we came upon:
The Dip-N-Dog.
I didn't even know it existed.
It's on East Limestone road. I'd look up the exact location for you but you know how angry my computer is with me right now. It blinks out about every 35 seconds so I'm trying to write like the wind over here.
You know how to google. Go do it.
I mean, really do go google it because check this out:
Fried Moon Pies? Be still my heart! I'm on day eight of Whole 30 so they'll be no fried moon pies for me anytime soon but there will come a day.
And what's a Razzle? How can I be 35 and not know what a Razzle is!
Chocolate Cobbler. Oh, yes. There will come a day.
After we ordered I looked around the restaurant at all the memorabilia on the walls. There was a noticeable lack of Auburn paraphernalia.
I guess they like it that way.
The ice cream was pronounced delicious.
"Leave me alone, lady!"
This kid begged for another corn dog.
After our impromptu stop we made it to Miss Icey's.
The prices were pretty amazing.
And who still uses an honor box?
The flowers were beautiful.
I picked this bunch. I mean, I didn't pick them because Miss Icey did that. I bought this bunch.
This was hanging in the stand.
The Dip-N-Dog, Miss Icey's Flower Patch and old Coke bottles pressed in to the dirt. It felt good to drive on old country roads and watch my kids eat ice cream and buy flowers for the cost of a Starbuck's Mocha and a donut. We should head out there more often. Totally worth the thirty minute drive.
After we got home I sent Rusty a text thanking him for telling me about Miss Iceys. He said you're welcome and asked me if I felt all warn and fuzzy inside. I did but...
It's true.
I had the mason jar full of beautiful flowers sitting in my passenger seat and I had to stop quick and they toppled over.
I thought Patrick Rothfuss had it under control since he was in charge of holding them up!
Head to Miss Icey's!
