1949 was a big year.
I mean, obviously every year is a big year but three super important things happened that would later impact my world in the year 1949:
Number One:
Number Two:
and
Thing the third:
Lego started making plastic bricks.
Oh, La...
Do we love Legos around here?!
The boys like to play with them and I like to chew on them.
Yeah.
I like to chew on them.
Don't knock it 'til you've tried it.
Last week we had our first Lego club meeting at school.
We basically just put several tubs of Lego's on the gym floor and had the kids go at it.
They loved it.
These twins loved it.
These girls loved it.
Everybody loved it, loved it.
That's a lot of pink.
The theme for the day was 'buildings.'
For my kid the theme seemed to be 'piles of Legos.'
"Where was I during all this Lego building?"
Not invited, lady.
Not invited.
Did you know Lego is still a privately held company?
Crazy, huh.
Did you know that the word Lego comes from the Danish phrase "leg godt' which means 'play well?'
Did you know there are now FOUR Legolands in the world?
So...there ya go.
Your useless facts for the day are now taken care of.
"Daddy, I can't believe she didn't invite me to Lego club."

One of those is in Carlsbad CA near Camp Pendleton where my daughter and son in law are stationed. they took 4 and 7 year old grandgirls there last weekend and a great time was had by all. And in 1949 I was 6 years old and upon hearing that your mom was born that year i felt quite advanced in age. MY mom was born in 1920 and is still living on her own.
ReplyDeleteLeatherneck, That's awesome about your Mom. Would that we could all say that at her age. I've never been to Carlsbad but I've heard it's a really cool area.
