I've got 84 days to figure it out...

Last year during the Fall I hadn't started blogging yet.

Yes, I'm kind of late to the blogging party.

So, I've kind of been wondering what I'm going to do come football season.

After all the opening day for the Southeastern Conference is only 84 days away.

The problem is that I live in Alabama and well...

See, our state has...football issues.

And some people that read my blog have football issues.

And I'm not naming any names but they might look like this:

Seriously, someone needs to tell those babies that it's only a game.

So, we cheer for a certain team.

And some people who read my blog cheer for a different team.

And really, never the twain shall meet or something like that.

So, I've been thinking how can I make my pictures from football season less offensive to those that cheer for the other team.

Option One:

Don't mention it all all.

This would be problematic as I normally blog about two things:

A) Embarrassing stuff that happens to me.

and

B) Everyday life - which football is a part of in the Fall.

Option Two:

Break out my iPhoto software.

See, iPhoto lets you blur things out.

So, this picture of the 1997 Iron Bowl which might be considered highly offensive to those of the opposite team:

Can now become 'other team friendly.'

All you have to do is blur the sign and remove all the insignias and logos.

See:

Just a group of friends hanging out holding a plain, old orange piece of paper:

Hmmm...This isn't going to work.

Option Three:

Maybe any mentions I make of football can just be funny.

I mean football season can be funny without being offensive, right?

I can be funny, right?

Right?

Why do I hear cricket's chirping.

Oh, well....I've got 84 days to figure it out.

  1. Good luck figuring it out! I'm still trying to figure out a) how football is played and b) why people are so enthusiastic about this game. Can you tell I'm not originally from Alabama?

  2. I'm already offended. i KNOW you did NOT blur out that orange sign. PAULA. WTH? what if you jinxed us? Come on. You blog what you think... which is why i don't blog (well that and b/c i'm not smart enough to figure it out...). If Auburn has a big win, blog about it. If uat has a big win, blog about laundry. That is my suggestion but i won't hear of watering down any pictures in order to appease the necks.

  3. Laura, You're hilarious. I'm that way about baseball - ugh! Why would people watch it???

Dear Anonymous or should I say MY COUSIN RUSTY, you talk a big game sir yet I can not deny that your suggestion holds merit.

  4. Any blog would only enlighten all who read it. I've heard from lots of Alabama fans that can't believe how friendly Auburn and Auburn fans are around game time and that they feel welcome there.
So, BLOG on... show us some of those traditions or how we are going to have to come up with a new one to replace a favorite one.

  8. Like the use of the word 'necks' in a public form. Which is better than what Joey would have said.
