My poor toddler...
She's been having quite the go of it lately. 'It' being getting hurt, falling down, and generally just letting her clumsy flag fly.
We went to the green way at Providence in Huntsville a couple weeks ago. As soon as we got there we stood beside the river and watched the little fishies swimming around. Suddenly the nine year old exclaimed 'Mom! She's in the water!' Somehow her hand had slipped out of mine and she had stepped off of the bank and slipped into a deep pool in the river. I quickly scooped her up and set her on dry ground. I could not believe I didn't:
a) Feel her hand come out of mine
or
b) Hear her fall in the water.
It was all very vexing to her. And to me, of course.
Baby girl was soaking wet.
She got over it pretty quickly.
What I didn't get over was seeing this snake in the water!
It was just a baby but still! I have seen WAY too many snakes this summer.
and
Oooh! Oooh! And even this incident!
And then this happened on Saturday:
Double black eyes courtesy of connecting with a kid's knee at the company picnic.
Better than a snake though, right?
I'll tell ya what else is rough! The fact that I have read David Platt's Radical, Jen Hatmaker's Interrupted and Katie Davis' Kisses From Katie all in the same year.
Believe me, it felt about like falling in a river and getting kicked in the face. So, maybe me and Stella have something in common.
"Woman, don't compare you're paltry problems to mine. I'm traumatized here!"
