Mud Run, Warrior Dash, Color Run...
That fantastic event that subjects only the bravest runners to a variety of obstacles.
Whatever you call it we decided to do it this year at Cousin's Camp. When Pinterest started blowing up with pictures of obstacle courses for kids and especially when Kristen Howerton posted about attending the Color Run I decided some sort of race was going to be necessary at camp.
We set the course using spray paint we found in the tool shed.
Then we basically just added any sort of activity that would involve getting the kids messy.
We hung tempera paint soaked sponges from trees.
We made a 'spider web' out of yarn and then put paint on it.
We took a baby pool and filled it up with colored water, cornstarch and glitter.
And then made a nice muddy hill the kids had to climb up and then slide down the other side.
This would have worked a lot better had there not been so much pine straw! The pine straw just soaked the water up and instead of making gooey mud like we wanted. Oh well, lessons for next year.
The kids waited in anticipation.
Who's ready?
"Me!"
And then we released the kids.
Through the web...
Down the hill...
Plunge into the pool...
Through the trail...
Across the sponge forest...
And off to do it again.
The kids loved it.
L-O-V-E-D I-T.
As you can see some got messier than others.
The girl in the green on the right? Not a big fan of the mud.
Those hooligans in the pool? Fans of the mud.
Next year:
Bigger, Messier, Muddier, More Color...
Bring it.
Are the kiddos in the baby pool yours? Looks like it was soooo much fun!!!!
