I've complained lamented whined blogged before about our concern over the minions lack of empathy - especially in the oldest. And I say it like it's a joke but honestly I'm legitimately concerned. Sort of.
I've also blogged about how we are trying to teach them how to handle money. They already do chores, handle their allowances, tithe, save etc. I thought we were doing good.
Now it looks like they need a few more lessons.
A couple days ago was 'Muffins with Mom' day at the oldest's school. The kids art works were on display around the classroom.
There was a poetry book that the children had made that was passed around in which I read poems from other kids about flowers and sisters and soccer etc.
My kid chose not to write about any of those things. Instead he chose a subject near and dear to his heart.
Money.

Money.
My child's poetry:
In case you can't read it:
Money oh money,
The green stuff that you pay with,
Oh how great are you.
Well...
I mean....
Er...
That's concerning.
"Hey! At least I'm writing poetry."
Well, uh, umm. Oh heck, I don't know what to say. But I love him!
ReplyDeleteMe, too.
DeleteThat sounds like something my Brady would write! Then, I'd stand there mortified a bit before finally giggling because ...well, what else are ya gonna do on the spot?
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad he didn't have to read it out loud!
ReplyDeleteYou have an Alex P Keaton on your hands. And, I believe he turned out with some empathy in the end (of the television series).
