Why, yes, that's right. I haven't blogged since Saturday.
In normal blogger time that wouldn't be a big deal but in my time it's practically apocalyptic.
I haven't been ignoring my poor little blog, though.
I've actually been quite busy.
I've been re-labeling everything, checking content, and even having a meeting about it in preparation for the big move to Wordpress.
If you want to keep following on Blogger though, don't worry, you still can.
I'll be updating both for a long time.
Anytime I tinker with the blog I run the risk of breaking something.
That certainly happened yesterday.
I was trying to change the labels on the blog and I somehow hit 'apply to all' and then 'revert to draft.'
I lost over 300 posts. I was able to get them back but it was painstakingly slow and quite frankly, a lot of dang work.
I kept having mental flashbacks to when I lost a couple pages that were chock full of information last year.
Unlike those problems this was actually fixable - even though my vocabulary was a bit sketchy by the end.
Speaking of vocabulary, I decided to add a bit to mine.
See, autocorrect decided to throw me a curve ball one day last week in the form of this:
A text message to my best friend asking about some samples.
I was trying to say 'it was just supposed to be a couple samples.'
Instead it autocorrected to 'sulu poised.'
Now, Sulu is a character on Star Trek right?
Or perhaps it was pointing me toward the island of Sulu, which is near the Philippines.
Here is a picture of it:
Pretty, huh?
And guess what:
You can even Pin it on Pinterest with no guilty feelings.
Just between me and you Pinterest is a lot less fun these days what with all the whiny artists and craftsmen.
I checked - it's an old painting from a book and therefore it's copyright has expired - at least according to Wikipedia and their GNU Free Documentation License it has.
Sulu poised: It's kind of a fun two words to say.
Ever since then I've found myself saying things like:
"Sulu be poised!"
and
"Poise Sulu!"
and even raising my fist in the air and giving a mighty:
"SULU!!!"
anytime anything vexing happens.
"Sulu, Mom? Really?"
Really, Minion.
So...
May the force of Sulu be with you.
And also with me as I attempt the blog switch.

Oh I love Pinterest! Good luck with your move to Wordpress. I consider moving every day b/c of weird commenting problems I've run into on Blogger.
ReplyDelete~ Wendy
I'm excited and dreading it at the same time!
DeleteThis was a fun blog post. Actually "Sulu Poised" would be a great name for a rock band,
ReplyDeleteWell you learn something new every day. For the past 30 odd years I thought his name was 'Zulu'. As you can tell, I'm not a huge trekkie!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...Maybe it is! Nope. I just goggled it and it's Sulu. Okay, here's the deal. I'll teach you that it's Sulu and you can teach me what caster sugar is.
DeleteNot sure if this is a fair trade Paula as I already "goggled" it myself. However, benefit of the doubt, the closest equivalent you have is 'superfine' sugar or 'superfine granulated' sugar, but NOT, whatever you do, powdered sugar. While we are at it, and for future reference, our 'corriander' is your 'cilantro' and our 'aubergine' is your 'eggplant'! And if we move over to Italian, 'pancetta' is not 'bacon', it's 'pancetta'. Luckily I spent a couple of years working in restaurants on your side of the Atlantic so I know these things. How do you know it's Sulu? Have you been to space? Did you serve on board the Enterprise? I hope this helps.
DeleteAubergine - very good to know!
DeleteAnd I know about Sulu through our friends at Google. : ) You won't catch me going into space!
