So I found this little gem the other day:
Oh, yes.
It's a New Kids on the Block button.
I mean...
I remember listening to their music and actually thinking...
Oh, man, this is embarrassing...
I remember actually thinking:
"Wow. They really get me."
And I would love to say this was in junior high but it wasn't!
I think I was in about 5th grade.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah..."
It really just gets so much worse!
See, I was all in to creative writing when I was in elementary school.
And I actually wrote a story about them in which...
Prepare yourself, reader...
...a girl (me, of course) went on tour with the New Kids on the Block because her Dad got a job as their tour bus driver.
Yep.
Her Dad had fallen on hard times and didn't have anyone to leave her with so she had to go and live with him on the bus in his new job as the driver.
I mean...
It was a long story, too!
Her Mom had died and the girl had a best friend that she wrote letters home to and one night the bus broke down and she had to spend the night huddling for warmth with Jordan Knight and then there was a scene with a groupie and then her Dad got sick but she stayed on the tour selling merchandise and of course she and Jordan eventually got married after a long separation when they re-met at a coffee shop in California where she was on a layover from her job as a flight attendant.
And, yes, there were lots of run on sentences in the book too.
How much worse could it get?
Unbelievable.
Someone really should have taken the pen away.
Seriously, taken the pen away!

ReplyDeleteGood story.

You should publish it as a book with the copy of the original writing and then an edited version. You could even include special stickers that girls could write their own favorite singer and band and their own names and stick them in all of the appropriate places in the book to make it their own. You could also have stickers with the modern singers and bands that have groupies too.
ReplyDeleteI would go through Scholastic and sell them at the Book Fairs. Or, print them yourself and make it local and internet.
BTW, I get 10% for the idea. If you need further assistance, that will be another 10%.
