Good gravy, people!
What are we doing here?
If there is one day where perception might not meet reality it's got to be Valentines Day.
I mean to look on Facebook today everyone has a perfect marriage, boyfriend, girlfriend etc.
Oh, Valentines Day. The bane and bliss of people everywhere.

Oh, Valentines Day. The bane and bliss of people everywhere.
On Facebook today...
Whew!
The Valentines Day status updates...
Whew!
The Valentines Day status updates...
Oh, boy.
I mean...
Lest you get jealous or downtrodden about the state of your romantic entanglement let me just say it again:
Perception might not be reality.
Lest you get jealous or downtrodden about the state of your romantic entanglement let me just say it again:
Perception might not be reality.
For example, I read one this morning that said:
"Dear Facebook! Just letting you know that I fall in more in love with 'Pedro' every minute of every hour of every day. He is the most perfect husband ever."
Really?
Every single minute of every single hour of every single day he is perfect?
Wow.
Really?
Every single minute of every single hour of every single day he is perfect?
Wow.
And dude's name isn't Pedro but I'm writing Pedro to protect the innocent.
And you might think 'Oh, but the person is going to read the blog and know it's about them!'
Yeah, not so much.
That's because so many freaking statuses are like that today.
I probably read 10 just like that.
So, you fall more in love with him every hour of every day?
Even yesterday when you got mad and hung up on him?
Even the day before when you fought over...oh, whatever.
You get my drift.
You get my drift.
And plus:
Who wants that kind of pressure?
I mean...
Every hour of every day you are expecting that crazy, feverish 'love' feeling?
That's a lot for a marriage to provide you with.
And 'perfect' husband?
I don't know...
I kinda feel like bragging about how great your relationship is on Valentines Day on Facebook is a little like walking into the cancer ward at MD Anderson and bragging about how healthy you are.
I mean...there are some sad people on Facebook on V Day.
Can't we give 'em a break?

Perhaps I'm just a wee bit too cynical for this holiday.
So:
Also:
So:
Also:
We used to have seriously bad Holiday Issues...
We're getting better.
And just so you don't think I'm an unromantic jerk here is me being so super sappy in our Wedding video.
In fact, I think I might have heard myself say that Billy "fulfills everything on my wish list for a husband."
Wow.
No pressure, sweetie!

ReplyDeleteYou are just too cute in this video! All lovey dovey and your little voice is all sappy and sugary sweet. Aw - young love! Was this shown at rehearsal/reception? What a gift to have that. I suggest watching it whenever you get all huffy at him for something.
ReplyDeleteYeah I'm glad I didn't look at facebook on vday
ReplyDeleteStaying away was a good idea.
