Dear Readers,

It's time for you to start pulling your weight around here.

See...I'm deep in the mountains of North Georgia. Wi-Fi hasn't quite made it to the little cabin so I can't blog tonight. Yep, a little cabin.

Oooh! Oooh! Quick! Everyone start singing Little Bunny Foo Foo! Get it? "Little cabin in the woods..." Hmmm. Now that I think about it maybe that's not the way the song goes. Oh well, bygones.

What were we talking about? Oh, yeah. How you need to start pulling your weight around here!

Tonight's assignment is to figure out what this means. It was on a light post in downtown Atlanta.


So, those of you that have wi-fi...get to googling!

    I have discovered it is a trademark owned by the City of Atlanta...

    Looks to me like it's the City Seal! My crack research says that the word "resurgens" is Latin for resurrection and the bird is a Phoenix rising from the ashes. Pretty fitting for a city that was burned to the ground in 1865, one of the dates shown. 1847 was the year the City charter was officially drawn. If you go the City's website you can see the seal right under the Mayor's fat smiling face.

    yup, the City seal. Though stamped in 80 yr old pig iron it looks a wee bit peaked.
