This afternoon I was in the country doing some clean up for our family's annual cousin's camp that starts in a couple weeks.
With 72 people in out though out the four day camp sleeping space is always at a premium.
A few years ago my Dad went all Bob the Builder on us and built a bunkhouse for the girls, nicknamed The Crickets, to sleep in.

A few years ago my Dad went all Bob the Builder on us and built a bunkhouse for the girls, nicknamed The Crickets, to sleep in.
It was much needed and much appreciated.
In the past the girls have slept on the floor.
It worked okay.
I mean sure...
I did find this on the floor while I was cleaning up today just feet away from where the girls usually sleep.
but it had worked.
It's a good thing Dad was in the mood to build again this Spring, though.
In addition to three sets of bunk beds he also built four of these:
They fold up against the wall for easy storage.
And then with just a flip of the lever and an unhooking of the the safety chain...
...Voila! More beds.
So stinking handy!
And that scorpion?
It prompted this flurry of text messages:
At first I thought it was dead and I was excited because I thought it would be a neat thing for the campers to see.
When I reached down to pick it up it began to try to sting me!
I've been stung before and it's not something I ever want to repeat.
You should know by now "things" are never dead in the country unless you kill them!
ReplyDeleteWell, that thing certainly wasn't!
DeleteI'm sort of hyperventilating at this point. Emma might need that mosquito net after all. I'm thinking that Amy's camper sounds like the Ritz Carlton right about now. And this, just when I was becoming less terrified of the massive spider from two years ago. Sigh...I might need a valium prescription before camp starts.
ReplyDeleteThe important thing is we bug bombed and everything should be dead!
DeleteBTW, We are VERY, VERY thankful for all of the hard work that Uncle Ken has put into the bunkhouse :-)
ReplyDeleteThe bunk beds are a GREAT addition.
DeleteI have always heard about the Cousin Camp. Where do y'all go? Is it on y'alls land? It is awesome to have such a great handy man who can build cabins and bunk beds!
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see your big group of Cousins! With your Dad's creativity and skill, the Crickets Bunkhouse is cute as can be!

I'm laughing all over again after reading Eric and Mindy's comment! Hahahaha!
