Stream Maintenance

Is there any better feeling in the world than the one you get when you unlodge debris from a clogged stream and see it flowing freely again?

Well, yeah, of course. There are lots of better feelings but that is a pretty good one.

When we go to the country I like to set the kids to working on one of the tiny little streams as soon as we get there that always fills up with ick while we are away.

They always happily agree.

It's muddy work but of course that just makes it more appealing to them.

Much mud is slung and shoes get squishy and the like.

In the end though the stream starts flowing freely...

...until the next storm.

To celebrate their hard work on this particular occasion we sat on the porch and drank cokes.

I'm not sure why this kid deserved a coke.

She was busier doing this than working on the stream.

Just look at her in this picture.

She clearly feels guilty about not being helpful.

  1. Someone has to stand back and commandeer of the situation Paula. Maybe that's what she was doing? Then again, what's 'commandeer'?

  2. I'm sure supervising the activity was first in her mind. ; )
