Darn You, Kevin and Amanda!

My town is not afraid to produce some famous bloggers. Christy Jordan of Southern Plate and Kevin and Amanda both hail from Huntsville.

Recently Kevin and Amanda were sent to Italy by Michael Angelo's. It's been an amazing trip that I have watched via Twitter and her blog.

Am I jealous? Maybe.

I miss Italy.

I miss Venice especially. And Portofino. And Rome. And Monterosso. Heck, at this point I even miss Naples.

Things that make me miss Italy:

Passing by the book shelf and seeing:

Portofino by Frank Schaeffer

and

Beach Music by Pat Conroy.

But Venice...

Last time I was in Venice I was crazy pregnant.

Awww, look. My pregnancy clothes.

I mean, come on! Venice!

I believe I've already blogged about my crazy shower experience there.

It's just one of my favorite dang places in the world.

Venice is just this amazing mix of...

SCREECH!

Er...that's not Venice. That's Rome.

Let's try that again:

Venice is just this amazing mix of canals and gardens and gelato and vaporetti and on and on.

I just love it.

It's our place, ya know?

I mean...we'd like it to be our place.

Er...Wait a minute. I think that might be Rome too. Oh, who knows.

It's Italy, alright!

And that's all right.

It's especially all right by me.

  1. I think we should plan a trip with you guys so we could have our own personal tour guides. I would LOVE to visit Italy. So let's put it on a list or something!

  4. I sit and page through every time I pass my copy of "A Traveler in Southern Italy". And what do you mean "Even" Bella Napoli? A difficult place to visit and be a tourist but a magnificent place to live and immerse oneself in the dust of centuries.

    1. I've never heard of that book!

I'll give Naples another chance if we ever get to go again! I want to go to Sicily next time!

  5. Got to agree with 6693: If you want to experience Italy, it's gotta be Napoli! The most beautiful city in the world, there's no other place like it on earth. But then again, Venice is nice too! And if you're ever in my neck of the woods, the pasta lovers paradise of Emilia Romagna, I'll be happy to act as your personal tour guide!

    1. Tour guide or chef? I've read all your blogs and I'm thinking chef is more important!

  6. If you are from up by Bologna you are a remarkably open-minded Northern Italian, Mario. We used to get told that "Africa starts south of Rome." Tuscans were hard pressed to even admit that Napoli was part of Italy.
