P.S. Don't Burn Your House Down...

A couple years ago country came to town and we got an Anthropologie store.

If you're not familiar with the store its sells...

Well, lets just consult their website, shall we.

According to said site it's: "An inspiring place to find unique apparel, accessories and home decor."

Yeah, that's about right.

When I go I constantly find myself taking pictures of things to either put on my wish list or not recreate at home.

And by 'not recreate at home' I mean in my head I actually think I may go home and make it but who are we kidding?

I'm probably not.

It has things like this:

I mean...

Sure, I need this.

It's a freaking snow globe made out of a salt shaker!

A few years ago I saw a candle with coffee beans around the outside of it.

So, of course I thought:

"Okay, I can recreate this."

I bought chunky candles and whole coffee beans and then hot glued those suckers on to the candle.

It was all kinds of fun.

I made over sixty of them.

We have a crazy big extended family and we still do stocking stuffers every year for everyone.

I'm actually shocked I haven't blogged about it.

Anyway...

So I put them in everyone's stockings and then patted myself on the back for been so dang crafty.

That night I got home and lit my own candle and then wandered away from it.

Because that's really the best thing to do any time you light a candle...

Well, I walked back in the room sometime later and my entire candle and the stack of magazines under it was:

Sul Fuoco

En Fuego

燃えます

On fire!

Apparently my clever design was highly flammable!

So I had to make the phone call of shame and tell everyone not to use the cruddy candle.

Ya know:

Here's a candle and p.s. don't burn your house down...

  1. Good tip Paula. I'll remember that next time I'm wondering what to do with my surplus coffee beans. Sounds like they should call it the 'store for people with too much darned time on their hands'! I also make my own stocking fillers - but I avoid the flammable variety and stick with the edible kind.
