Distracted Finding...

Friday afternoon found me searching through some old drawers looking for a hole punch at my parents.

This is not a good task for me.

See, I suffer from 'distracted finding.'

It's like distracted driving but without the driving part.

I get very distracted when I go looking for things.

Not so surprisingly my children suffer from this affliction also.

School mornings are just a blast around here.

Sigh.

Three Days and Counting 'til school starts...

So what was in the drawers that was so distracting?

Well, the first thing was this:

Ronnie Milsap's Greatest Hits.

I mean...

It's just that...

Really, what can you say?

This was actually the first concert I ever went to.

Yep, right there at good ole Opryland.

That was before Opryland was a Mall and before the Mall became a Swamp.

I'm not sure you can get any less cool than Mr Millsaps for your first concert.

The only thing more uncool than that is that my first concert in a real venue was...

Wait for it...

Sandi Patty.

The crazy thing is that I felt so grown up the night that I got to go to that Sandi Patty concert!

I thought it was so cool to get to go!

How did we get on to this?

Oh, yeah...Distractions.

Kinda like that story was.

So, what else was in the drawer?

A KC and the Sunshine Band Eight Track.

Excellent.

Go Mom and Dad!

I'm thinking they were probably listening to this the day they took this picture...

Which I also found in the drawer with the 8 track.

The International Scout.

An excellent ride.

Another picture I found in the drawer:

My oldest brother Joey as a baby and two people that must have been his babysitters because no way do they look old enough to have a baby.

Hi Mom and Dad!

The ultimate distraction though was this:

The Intellivision Cartridge holder.

It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to look at it.

I had to longingly look at some of my favorites:

I drank a lot of Kool Aid and ate a lot of Steak Ums when I played this game.

My brother Robbie could make some mean Steak Ums.

"Hey Robbie, Let's listen to Duran Duran while you make me a Steak Um."

And this one:

The Power of He-Man!

How in the heck did we buy into this as kids?

We totally did though.

I loved this show.

Here's another:

I actually played Burger Time recently and it wasn't as fun as I remembered it.

It was actually kinda scary to have those eggs and hot dogs following me around.

I kept getting distracted by the salt and the pickle and the pepper.

Distractions!

They will get you every time!

And yes, I eventually found the hole punch.

It was fifteen minutes after any normal person would find it but at least I found it.
