Public Services...

I had a bad day in the library.

I mean really bad.

And it just gave me a bad feeling about public services in general.

And I know that's ridiculous because we all like libraries and I'm all for them but it just got on my bad side today.

You know what public service is really good?

The National Parks.

Wouldn't you love to be able to visit every single National Park?

There are only 58 and that number seems doable.

But then you realize that one is in American Samoa.

Eight of the parks are in Alaska.

And just between you and me I'm kind of scared of Alaska.

One is in the Virgin Islands.

Two are in Hawaii.

And the rest are in pretty out of the way places.

Lets look at a couple I've been to shall we?

Glacier National Park

The smell was incredible.

It smelled like someone had left the top off of a really good smelling candle.

The water looked tropical.

It was so clear and there were so many different colored rocks.

They were like brightly colored fish.

I love how the clouds hung over the lake.

Every time I see mountains like this I think:

What were the Pioneers thinking???

Then, if you travel one thousand seven hundred forty seven miles south east - hopefully not by covered wagon - you'll come to:

 Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

It's beautiful too.

Plus it has Gatlinburg.

And the Appalacian Trail.

But mainly Gatlinburg because, hello, pulled taffy.

You have to watch out though.

It also has wild men that throw young boys over their shoulders.

It's true.

I've seen it happen.

Soooo....

Which National Parks have you been to?

  1. I love Grand Teton National Park. Most beautiful place I've ever seen. Glacier is on my wish list!
