So the song Lean on Me was written by a guy named Bill Withers in 1970.
He was from a small town in West Virginia and had moved to Los Angeles. A bad bout of homesickness prompted him to write the song.
Truthfully the song has always kind of annoyed me because Billy loves that movie and is always trying to get me to watch it.
I know, I know.
Its a good movie.
I should like it.
Hey! Rabbit Trail!
This weekend on the train we played Table Topics and the question was "Who or what do you not like for no good reason."
This movie can be my answer!
I have no good reason not to like that movie.
Alright, rabbit trail is over - back to the song.
So the lyrics to the song are as follows:
Since I can't sing I'll set the song to my own personal music.
Sometimes in our lives...
we all have pain...
we all have sorrow...
But if we are wise...
We know that there's always tomorrow...
Lean on me...
When you're not strong...
And I'll be your friend...
I'll help you carry on...
For it won't be long...
'Til I'm gonna need...
Somebody to lean on...
Please swallow your pride...
If I have things you need to borrow...
For know one can fill those needs that you won't let show...
Lean on me!!!
When you're not strong...
And I'll be your friend...
I'll help you carry on...
For it won't be long...
'Til I'm gonna need...
Somebody to lean on...
You just call on me brother...
When you need a friend...
We all need somebody to lean on...
I just might have a problem that you'd understand...
We all need somebody to lean on...
Call me...
When you need a friend...
And then the music fades out.
Except in the newer version where they go into a longer verse that includes the phrase:
"We be jammin'.
A lot.
So...
We be jammin'
We be jammin'
We be jammin'
The End.
Perfect!!!!! I liked the song (we sang it during rush when i was in school) - and the movie was ok but now I LOVE THEM BOTH!!!
ReplyDeletethat is awesome. LOL. The first out loud laugh came when the little boys are borrowing...snowball from there. Love the cute pic of you and your hubby with lake in background. The pic of you calmly holding your red faced screaming daughter is too much. Great post.
