Birthday cake (wrecks) through the years

I'm not sure why but I have a primal urge every year to make my children't birthday cakes.

It sometimes (usually?) results in disaster.

Here are a few of the memorable ones:

This was minion two's 4th birthday.

It was a swim party - hence the fish.

How about my use of the broiler pan as a cake platter?

That is classy.

Classy - its how I roll.

It also ended up looking a lot like the fish dish Mom and I would get at the restaurant at Barnsley Gardens a few weeks later.

Um, ewwww.

Next:

Another year, another swim party.

So the Lego's are supposed to look like they are swimming.

The Twizzlers are supposed to be lane ropes.

The icing is supposed to be water.

That color is truly awful.

At least it wasn't presented on a broiler platter.

And:

Forgive me.

It was supposed to be a Batman symbol.

It was bad.

Holy birthday cakes, Batman!

Forgive me for that bad (bat?) joke too.

This year the minion wanted a snow scene Lego cake.

I was at a loss.

Finally I just hot glued Lego men to Arctic animals.

It was odd.

Nice.

I don't think the makers of the Arctic animals anticipated this.

Who could possibly anticipate this awesomeness?

  1. Ok, you are going to think I am a blog stalker because I am posting so quick, but you happened to post just as I was looking to see if something new was posted. Lucky me!

I love the clever swimming pool cake. You get extra points for thinking of twizzlers for lane ropes. Very cute.

  2. Too funny. Laughing out loud at each pic. I think my fav is the fish with the Barnesly Garden look alike. I can just picture you laughing out loud when your fancy food arrived at the table.
