The 5 year old has developed the habit of saying "Oh, punks" anytime things don't go his way.
He doesn't know any punks or even what the word means.
I have no clue where he got got it.
For example:
"Oh, punks.
She is makin' us take pictures and pick muscadines."
So this morning when I began to peruse my old journal again and found this little gem and knew I had to share I decided I agreed with his sentiment.
Oh, punks.
So, fresh from 1997 I'd like to present my list of
"What I Want in a Man"
Oh, punks indeed.
Numbers 1 - 7 are your basic smorgasbord of 'good guy.'
In case you can't read it:
1) Growing Christian
2)Kind
3) Funny
4) Brave
5) Non smoker
6) Uses good language
On a side note this guy is starting to sound more and more boring all the time.
Teenagers reading this: boring = good in grown up world.
7) Likes to travel
And then we get to number eight.
Just shield your eyes.
Please, just shield your eyes.
8) A Prince so I can be a Princess.
Gag.
Seriously, gag!
What was I thinking!
9) Faithful
10) Humble
11) Powerful
Whoa!
Hubba, hubba.
12) A Pursuer
Um, sounds kinda creepy now.
13)
Sorry, I'm uncontrollably laughing...
Having trouble writing....
13) Supports my love for the Arts.
Bwah, ha, ha!
What love for the arts?
I'd seen maybe three plays at this point and somehow in my mind I had become part of the selection committee for the Tonys.
14) Loves his family
15) My best friend
16) Romantic
Again, when the gagging.
17) A sticker
I think I was going through a Jerry Maguire phase.
Isn't there a line in that movie about how he was 'a sticker'
18) Someone who is like my brothers
Awwww....
19) Likes to sing
20) Talks and Listens
21) Likes Sports
22) Well educated
Can we say shallow?
What kind of stupid requirement was that?
23) Accepts my past and my future
Again, with the melodrama
24) Puts me above all but God.
25) Non judgmental
26) Keeps his promises
27) A Looker!
Love the exclamation point.
The only one in the list.
28) A thinker
29) A Soul Mate
Oh, brother.
30) A good and patient driver
A good and patient driver?
Was I going to check for his cdl?
What?
Huh?
31) Someone who will take up for me
32) Someone I can be silly with
This list was silly.
The ridiculous thing about it was that it was all about what I wanted him to be like.
Nothing about me improving myself.
Apparently I was perfect.
Unbelievable.
On a side note another thing I found in this journal was this:
Up in the top right hand corner it says:
"Avery rolled over today."
This is Avery now:
I cried when he was born.
And then I reached down to tie my shoe and now he is that age.
There he is holding my youngest.
Sigh.
Glad you typed the list. I thought #9 was "Fast food", which was a bit confusing but hey, who am i to judge? Strangely missing was "someone my brothers like". Well, it worked out anyway... sort of:)
ReplyDeleteOne more thing. At age 14 sometimes its still blogworthy when Avery rolls over.
Haha! Blogworthy indeed.
ReplyDeleteGive yourself a break. You were a kid. Made me cry. This time next year Avery will be driving.
